While creating Vol.18: Infinite Ribbons : Black, an unexpected idea emerged. The flowing ribbon structures that inspired the collection eventually inspired something else—the new Monoframe logo. This is the story of how a wallpaper collection accidentally became a brand icon.
How a Wallpaper Collection Accidentally Created the Monoframe Logo
A funny thing happened while I was working on Vol.18 of Monoframe.
The collection was called Infinite Ribbons : Black.
The concept was simple: monumental black ribbon structures twisting through vast architectural spaces.
For hours, I was generating variations, selecting compositions, and refining the collection.
At some point, I stopped looking at the wallpapers and started looking at the shapes themselves.
The curves.
The intersections.
The flowing lines.
And then I noticed something.
Some of the ribbon structures looked strangely familiar.
They reminded me of the letters M and F.
The initials of Monoframe.
What started as a wallpaper collection suddenly became a logo experiment.
I opened a design tool and began sketching.
Not a traditional logo.
Not a corporate symbol.
Just a simple mark inspired by the same ribbon forms that appeared throughout the collection.
After several iterations, the shape started to feel right.
Minimal.
Architectural.
Elegant.
A little abstract, but still recognizable.
The final result became the new Monoframe icon.
What I like most about it is that it wasn't planned.
It wasn't created during a branding meeting.
It wasn't part of a marketing strategy.
It emerged naturally from the work itself.
A wallpaper collection inspired a logo.
And in a way, that feels very Monoframe.
Sometimes the best ideas appear when you're focused on creating something else.
